Twitter counted 10 million tweets during the Olympic opening ceremony, more that during the entire Beijing games
In China, Sina Weibo counted 119 million ‘tweets’ during the ceremony
Usain Bolt’s 100m final generated 1,233 tweets per second
The NBC Live apps peaked at numbers 1 and 2 for downloads for iPhone and iPad at the App Store. The NBC Live App had 7 million unique users and the NBC Olympics app has had 2.7 million
The McDonald’s Facebook app that allows fans to upload photos has seen over 20,000 active users between 13 and 30 July
